Dr. Chika Robertson PhD, MMus, BA, honARAM, CEO of Music Mind Spirit Trust, is a violin teacher at the Royal Academy of Music (JA, London) and international diploma examiner (Associated Board, Royal Schools of Music). She is in demand as a music adjudicator, workshop presenter, project manager and lecturer. Chika has recorded for eminent musicians (including Adams, Henze, Knussen, Lutoslawski, Pärt, Rattle, Tavener and Tippett) as soloist and chamber musician with world-class ensembles, including the London Sinfonietta and the Academy of St Martin-in-the-Fields. She premiered numerous seminal works and performed in many styles with artists such as Peter Donohoe, Shirley Bassey and Ella Fitzgerald, and was Director of Music at one of the UK's leading schools.
A multiple award winner, with fellowships at Aspen, Tanglewood and the Mozarteum, she was a teaching assistant at USC, concertmaster/director of operations for the Schoenberg Institute CME and LA Chamber Players, and recorded in Hollywood film studios. Chika is passionate about forging new career paths for Young Artist Musical Ambassadors (YAMAs) using innovative interdisciplinary methods of scientific and musical research for the benefit of health, wellness and recovery. Royal Academy of Music YAMAs learn to reinvigorate latent musicality in care and community settings by designing bespoke programs of personalized live and recorded music for the benefit of music and medicine.
